Designing the cover

Hello!! This was my favorite of making the magazine, definitely ranked first place. This portion was the first part I created so it had all my first learning experiences with InDesign and all the cool gadgets it had to offer!

So, I always had an image in my mind and knew exactly what I wanted to do. The only problem with this image is the pose I made my model do. I told him to cross his arms to give a tough look, but I realized I couldn't crop joints, specifically his elbows. Eventually, I did overcome this, and I moved to creating my title.

I created my masthead, tagline, date line, cover image, cover lines, and color scheme. I thought I was done, but I knew I could do more, and I wasn't done yet. Also, while the color stood out to me I still thought something was missing.

Here is the final result of the cover!! The tagline seemed like it was missing something, so I made it orange, to stand out but also fall back a little bit. Many swim magazines that I have personally looked at didn't have a barcode or price, so I held back on adding it. Eventually I added it because I thought something was missing on my cover and honestly, I was right, it looked so much better with my new additions.

Overall, I'm very happy with how this turned out and the time I put in was worth it!!

Thank you for reading!!
